Here is a gift idea that would be perfect for almost any dad. Whether Dad has a man cave, a man cave corner or is aspiring to have a man cave, a survival kit filled with all of his favorite edible treats is a great Father’s Day gift. It is actually very easy to make a brown cardboard case look like it is made out of worn leather with my easy technique.
Materials
- Brown Card Board Case (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby)
- Brown Antiquing Paint
- Parchment Cardstock
- Rivet Brads
- Sponge Brush
- Newspaper
- Brown Paper Shred
Instructions
Step 1: Paint a small section of the cardboard case with a foam brush.
Step 2: Crumble a piece of newspaper or paper into a ball and dab the painted area with the paper. The texture of the paper will give the paint a worn leather look.
Step 3: Continue around the box, working in small sections. The crumbled paper takes some of the wet paint off leaving the texture design on the box.
Step 4: Print out the Man Cave text on parchment scrapbooking paper. Cut the paper the size to fit the inside of the box.
Step 5: Remove the metal prongs from the the rivet brads and glue them to the corners of the man cave label to give it that masculine look.
Step 6: Fill the box with brown shredded paper for the rustic look and add man cave treats.
